Africa, a continent with a myriad of cultures each one of which has it's own unique language. It has been estimated that Africa has approximately 2,000 spoken languages with Nigeria topping the table with as many as 250 ethno-linguistic groups.
In addition, Africa has a wide variety of sign languages while several African languages are whistled or drummed to communicate over long distances.
Berber, Arabic, Igbo, Swahili, Hausa, Amharic, and Yoruba are spoken by millions of people while other isolated languages are spoken by possibly only a few hundred people. |
