|A very fine Shango staff made of wood. |
Dark brown patina. The staff is mounted on a specially produced stand. Decorated with a big and a small figure, the former kneeing on a round base, the latter on the back of the other. The larger figure is female and has a thunder axe on her head. The woman has almond shaped eyes, distinct, rolling eyebrows, a big, detailed worked nose and a shapely mouth. Traditional Yoruba scarification at the face. In front of her breast she is holding another thunder axe with both her hands. She is wearing a necklace and one bracelet on each wrist.
The smaller figure has as well as the other an opulent, well-formed body and an oval head. She is wearing a headdress.
The staff itself is decorated with a complex, very accurate design.
