A rare mask of the Nyau. Chadzunda "The Old Deaf Man" or "The Chief". The face of the old man is painted with glossy paint. The basic shape of the face is made of wood with a textile covering, the hair and beard are made of cloth. A very unusual method of production with a keen eye for detail. Another unusual feature is a thin piece of material with a hole cut through it which is stitched to the back of the mask creating a style of eyes typical of the Chewe. Shiny surface. Small amount damage caused by use.
