Description
Wood, shiny brown patina. Flat board shaped form. The whole body is wrapped in red cloth and dark leather. The leather shows signs of wear. Such dolls were called "omolangidi" meaning wooden child. They have a rather basic form with limbless with flat, generally rectangular torsos that allow them to rest comfortably against the child's back.

*Collector - New York City, NY, USA. Married to Drs. Jean, they were originally collectors of Nineteenth Century American art. Bought their first piece, a Guro pulley, in 1968 at auction.
