Childrens doll from the Tuareg, Algeria.
Made from an animal bone with a transverse wood, fastened with cord and leather strap, represents the arms of the doll. The "body" is wrapped in cloth.
Bone dolls are found in many ethnic groups in Africa. The children find these bones and play with them as though they are human figures. They often play with the bare bones but sometimes these are decorated by adults.
