Description |
|
A beautiful and very detailed carving of a seamstress sat at a sewing machine. The strong facial features of the woman are typical of the Akan peoples. She is wearing a long dress, the hair is tied together at the back of her head. The sewing machine is rich in detail and you can almost feel the softness of the cloth as it cascades over the table. The figure has a dark brown patina with small residues of yellow paint. There is probably no cult or ritual purpose to such a figure, we should just accept for what it is, a beautifully carved figure that exudes dynamic and life. |
