| Description |
 |
Container for camwood powder. (camwood powder is made of Pterocarpus bark). The powder is mixed with palm oil or water then smeared on the body. Traces of the original contents, "tukulua" powder, are still visible inside. This mixture is used to rub on the body for festive occasions and the body of a deceased person was particularly liberally covered with it. Signs of use, crack on one side.
The original collectors label "Gefäss 218-369" is attached to the container. |
