Wood, dark brown patina, crowned by a human head with hornlike hairstyle (horn tips are missing), complete with crossbar and bobbin, min. dam., minor missing parts, cracks, slight traces of abrasion.
Heddle pulleys belong to the weavers and were passed on as valued heirlooms within the family. Because of their personal character, the weaver is allowed to determine himself what form they should take.
Published at York University, Toronto, Canada, "Human images through the Ages from the Finlayson Collection" Feb - Mar 1976.
The pulley is mounted on a wooden pedestel. |
