Excavation beads (Kano Beads), these beads were produced in Hebron between 1500 and 1900. They are wrapped glass beads, in the production of which the highly salty water of the Dead Sea played a decisive role.
These beads reached West Africa via old trade routes. They are considered to bring protection and increase wealth, were laid out around villages and worn as jewelry. Excavation site: city of Kano, Nigeria. |
