Eltayeb Dawelbait was born in Sudan in 1965. He studied from 1986 to 1990 at the Art Academy of Khartoum University. In 1996, Dawelbait settled in Nairobi, Kenya - where he still works as a painter and textile designer. Dawelbait has participated in several international workshops in Khartoum, Lamu, Asmara and Nairobi.
Since 1991 he has been part of numerous group exhibitions: in Khartoum, Sudan; Nairobi, Kenya; Kampala, Uganda; East Africa Biennale in Dar es Salam / Tanzania as well as in Montreal, Canada, Monaco, London and Berlin.
Solo exhibitions showed Eltayeb Dawelbait in the Tad Gallery, Rome; Ensign Gallery, London; Le Rustique, Nairobi; Tulifanya Gallery, Kampala; Talisman Restaurant and Gallery, Nairobi; Universal Café, Khartoum; Toyota HQ, Khartoum; The Art Gallery, Asmara, Talisman, Nairobi. |
